How paying a UAE supplier works

  1. Send us the invoice details. The amount in AED and your supplier's bank details.

  2. See your rate. The naira cost of the payment is confirmed before you send. For OTC trades, the quote holds for one hour.

  3. Fund the payment in naira.

  4. Your supplier is paid in AED, into their UAE bank account.

What you need from your UAE supplier

  • Their full legal company name, exactly as it appears on their bank account
  • Their UAE IBAN: it starts with "AE" and is 23 characters long
  • Their bank's name and SWIFT/BIC code
  • The invoice you are paying

Check that the company name on the bank details matches the name on the invoice. A mismatch is a common sign of invoice fraud and a common reason for a returned payment.

Why pay in dirhams

The UAE dirham has been pegged to the US dollar at 3.6725 AED per USD since 1997, so if your supplier quotes in dollars, you can work out the exact AED amount before you pay.

Common questions

How long does a payment to the UAE take with Oneremit?

Standard payments usually arrive in 1–3 business days. Payments of USD 500,000 or more through the OTC desk settle the same day when confirmed before 17:00 UAE time, which is 14:00 in Lagos.

What currency does my UAE supplier receive?

UAE dirhams (AED). See today's rate at oneremit.co/rates.

Are there hidden fees?

No. All fees are shown upfront before you confirm a payment.

What documents do I need?

Oneremit verifies your business before certain payments can be processed. For OTC trades, the desk asks for your company's incorporation documents plus documentation supporting the specific transaction.

How do I know my supplier's bank details are genuine?

Confirm the IBAN and company name with your supplier on a phone or video call, not only by email, especially if the details have changed. Fraudsters often send "updated bank details" from look-alike email addresses.
